The Presidents Code – John Adams

In the Presidents Code, the Presidency of John Adams is picture of the days of Adam in the Garden. Adam was given a help-meet who became his wife, a gift from the Most High. He was called to work the garden and to guard it. However, Adam did not fully perform his duties and would allow the serpent to sneak into Eden.
The name meanings of Adams and the other heads of government during his Presidency is depicted in story form as such: 

The Lord placed Adam in the Garden of Eden, His camp.  God saw that it was not good for man to be alone so He gave him a ‘helpmeet’ to ‘complete’ him where they would both dwell in a ‘land flowing with milk and honey.’  From this time on, man would leave father and mother and be joined to his wife.  Adam was rewarded with a Paradisaical land and a wife.  This gift of God was given to man but he was also given the responsibility to keep and guard it.  Eden would be a land of God’s grace for Adam if he obeyed God and avoided the tree of knowledge of good and evil.  It would be a land where God would speak directly to mankind where His Glory could dwell.  His Presence would abide with Adam as long as he was faithful to dress and keep this land.  Adam was given dominion over all the earth but but would not fully perform his duty and eventually would allow the enemy to creep into this Paradise that God had given him.

President John Adams: Adam is placed in the Garden of Eden.
Vice President Thomas Jefferson: Adam is given an helpmeet for a wife.
Speaker of the House Jonathan Dayton: Adam and Eve dwell together in Paradise, a land flowing with milk and honey.
President Pro Tempore William Bradford:  Adam becomes head of the family unit.
President Pro Tempore Jacob Read: Eve is given to Adam as a reward from God.
President Pro Tempore Theodore Sedgwick: The Garden and Eve are gifts from God to Adam.
President Pro Tempore John Laurance:  Adam dwells in the land of God’s grace and is commanded not to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
President Pro Tempore James Ross:  Adam dwells in the holy mountain of God.
Speaker of the House Theodore Sedgwick: Adam is commanded to keep and dress this land that ‘flows with milk and honey.’
President Pro Tempore Samuel Livermore:  God walks and talks with Adam in the cool of the day.
President Pro Tempore Uriah Tracy: God’s Presence dwelt with Adam, the guardian of the Garden.
President Pro Tempore John E. Howard: Adams dwells in Paradise and is given dominion over this land.
Chief Justice John Marshall: Adam is the guardian of God’s camp.
President Pro Tempore James Hillhouse: God gives Adam His holy hill.


The character of John Adams depicts well Adam in the Garden. He was looked upon his peers as a man of unquestionably integrity, just as Adam was created sinless. He was a Son of Liberty who stressed virtue amongst his cabinet and inhabitants of America. The Alien and Sedition Acts were his downfall which point to Adam’s inability to protect the Garden from the serpent.
